This policy explains how Alba Longa processes the personal data of people who visit albalongaeditions.com, use its content or contact the publisher. It also describes the use of cookies and similar technologies.

2. Data processed and purposes

• Browsing and security: technical data strictly necessary to display, administer and protect the website.
• Messages and forms: name, email address and content voluntarily submitted so that we can answer the request.
• Comments: when this feature is available, information entered by the visitor and technical data needed for moderation and spam prevention.
• Consent preferences: storage of the choice made through the cookie banner.
• Purchases: transactions made through Payhip, Amazon or Bubok are handled directly by those platforms under their own policies. Alba Longa does not receive the banking data used to pay on those platforms.

Data is obtained directly from visitors when they write, comment or subscribe, or is generated automatically by the server and browser. Fields marked as required are necessary to handle the request; if they are not provided, Alba Longa may be unable to respond.

3. Legal bases

Depending on the circumstances, processing is based on steps requested by the data subject, the legitimate interest in administering and securing the website, compliance with a legal obligation, or consent. Non-essential statistics and measurement tools may only be enabled after valid consent has been obtained.

4. Recipients and service providers

Data may be processed by providers technically required to host, protect and administer the website, including WordPress.com/Automattic, Jetpack, Akismet and Complianz, within the limits of their functions. Links to Payhip, Amazon and Bubok lead to external services responsible for their own processing. Where a transfer outside the European Economic Area is necessary, it must rely on a mechanism recognised under the GDPR.

5. Analytics and link tracking

WordPress.com hosting and Jetpack provide traffic statistics and performance functions. Automattic may therefore process technical data such as the IP address, browser and device type, referring website, pages viewed, date and time, and approximate location. Resources from stats.wp.com and s0.wp.com have been identified on the website. For further information, see Automattic’s Privacy Notice for Visitors to Users’ Sites.

Matomo is installed but inactive. Alba Longa conversion-link tagging also remains disabled and sends no data. Any future activation must be subject to Complianz statistical consent and will, where necessary, be preceded by an update to this policy. Alba Longa does not use this data for automated decision-making or individual profiling.

6. Retention periods

Data is retained only for as long as necessary for each purpose and to meet legal obligations. Automattic retains technical server logs for approximately 30 days. Messages that do not lead to a contractual relationship are retained for no more than three years after the last contact; comments may be retained while the content to which they relate remains published, unless a legitimate erasure request is made. Contractual, tax and accounting documents are retained for the applicable statutory periods. Cookie choices are retained for six months; visitors may change their choice at any time.

7. Individual rights

Under the GDPR and French law, you may request access to, rectification, erasure or restriction of your data, object to certain processing, exercise data portability where applicable, and withdraw consent at any time. You may also issue instructions concerning your data after your death. To exercise your rights, email almagrojoseluis@hotmail.fr. If you believe that your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL.

8. Cookies and consent management

Strictly necessary cookies may be used without consent where they are essential to website operation or to remembering the visitor’s choice. Analytics cookies and other non-essential technologies remain blocked until the visitor takes a positive action. You can accept, reject or change your choice through the banner and the permanent consent-management button.

Cookies currently used

• Consent management: cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing, cmplz_policy_id and cmplz_consented_services, used to remember the choice for six months.
• WordPress — login and administration: wordpress_test_cookie, wordpress_logged_in_* and wp-settings-*, used conditionally to test cookies, authenticate and remember settings for signed-in users.
• Comments and subscriptions: comment_author_*, jetpack_comments_subscribe_* and jetpack_blog_subscribe_* may be created only when the visitor uses those functions.
• WordPress.com/Jetpack Stats: resources from stats.wp.com and s0.wp.com are loaded for traffic statistics and performance; Automattic states that its services may use tk_ai or tk_qs identifiers.
• Matomo, CTA tracking and advertising: no cookie is currently placed by Matomo or the CTA module, and Alba Longa does not enable its own advertising cookies.
• External platforms: Payhip, Amazon and Bubok may place their own cookies after the visitor follows a link and reaches their website.

This inventory will be updated after any technical change. The retention period of conditional cookies depends on the function used and the policy of the relevant provider.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect legal or technical developments or changes to the services used. The date at the top of the page identifies the applicable version.
